One of the great innovations this year is the relocation of the entire Academy events to the Lichtenthal Abbey. This historic retreat offers the unique opportunity not only to come together to learn, work and make music, but also to live at the same location and exchange ideas beyond the courses. Thus the musical and private togetherness merges into an inspiring overall experience in which bonds for life can be forged.
For our master classes, chamber music groups, workshops and coaching sessions, as well as private togetherness and practice, the almost 800-year-old monastery complex offers several halls, conference and common rooms, as well as the generous open spaces and gardens within the cloister walls. We also take breakfast, lunch and dinner together — in the monastic rhythm of the Cistercian nuns.
And for those who do want to retreat to practice or relax, a quiet place can always be found.
The monastery complex has several buildings with a variety of different rooms — from a simple single room with sink to a spacious double room with private bathroom. Participants invited to the academy can conveniently book their room when making the final course booking and can pay for it together with the course fees. A separate booking through the monastery is not possible for the period of the academy week.
Guests of the cloister usually seek peace and seclusion. Accordingly, all rooms are furnished and equipped in a simple manner and usually do not have Wi-Fi or entertainment electronics — ideal for switching off, relaxing or practicing. For our foreign participants we will set up a Wi-Fi hotspot in a common area of the monastery, so that high roaming costs in German mobile networks can be avoided.
All rooms will be booked as single rooms, including the double rooms. So you have a place where you can relax or practice undisturbed. If you would like to bring accompanying persons, please contact the academy management. We have reserved some rooms for this purpose, which will only be allocated on request. Minors must be accompanied by a guardian.
Depending on the room category, the prices of the rooms range between 590 € and 720 € for the entire academy week. This includes breakfast, lunch and dinner at the monastery. Further details will be provided after admission to the academy. An overnight stay in the monastery is mandatory for all participants.
We kindly ask all participants to respect the cloister's house rules
